Prism Plastics offers a competitively priced custom moulding service in addition to our own product range.

Design, prototyping, tooling and full manufacturing facilities are available for long or short production runs. Quotations are prepared usually within 24 hours of receiving a sample or drawing; alternatively existing tooling can be utilised for production.

Our injection moulding machinery ranges from 25 tonne up to 100 tonne clamp, with associated ancilliary equipment. This enables Prism to mould components weighing from a few grams per thousand up to a single item of 200g.

wand inserts
Figure 1. Wand Insert
This wand insert is manufactured for use in bar-code reading equipment. Measuring 22m long by 10mm diameter and weighing just 2g, the component is moulded in a modified acrylic. The material was chosen for its 95% transparency to infra-red as the domed end of the wand insert acts as a lens. The moulding has a fine external thread and is moulded in two pieces, which clip together.

    hinge components
Figure 2. Hinge components
These two components form the basis of commercial fridge and freezer door hinges. Moulded in a bright white nylon, the assembly weighs 400g and measures 170 x 110 x 55mm.
Mouldings can be produced to incorporate a customer‘s logo for added visual impact and brand reinforcement.

During production, procedures such as insert moulding and post-moulding adaptations, e.g. printing, tapping or assembly, can be accommodated.

screen components
Figure 3. Screen components
This suite of screen end caps are produced in high impact polypropylene. The mouldings show the company‘s logo and are RAL colour-matched to the other components in the finished assembly.
    bike alarm
Figure 4. Bike alarm
This 3-part moulding, produced in ABS, forms the casing for an anti-theft bike alarm. The assembly measures 140mm long by 18mm diameter and features the company name and patent notice inside the battery housing lid.

Our company takes pride in manufacturing quality components at an economically viable rate for our customers.

Quality and conformity of production are the essential principles upon which Prism Plastics is founded and we aim to offer our customers a friendly, efficient and flexible service with full technical support. The company holds ISO 9002 quality accreditation, registered through the British Standards Institute.

control handle assembly
Figure 5. Control handle assembly
These two components are moulded in Noryl, an engineering polymer with high flame retarding properties, and measure 125 x 70 x 32mm. They clip together to form a wall-mounted holder for a control handle operating lifting equipment for the disabled.
    kite components
Figure 6. Kite components
Multi-coloured kitewinders (52g, 240 x 85 x 3mm) are produced in high impact, high gloss ABS. Tradewind‘s T-pieces are moulded in nylon for its good strength to weight ratio and to maintain tolerance when carbon fibre rods are push-fitted into the component to form the backbone of high specification kites. The T-piece weighs 5g and measures 55mm by 21mm max.
